Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

A: Hey! We’ve been great. Loving the reactions we’ve had so far from everyone to the new single and are super excited to do this interview.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Feeling”?

A: “Feeling” came out just under a month ago now, and we have absolutely been thrilled with the positivity and all the feedback we’ve received so far. Compared to our last single, “Good Girls,” it is so much different. We really wanted to step forward and we really felt as though our directions as musicians have changed and who we are as people has also changed. Being able to represent that within our music is so important to us, and we feel like we captured this sort of maturity and development with this new single. We spent a lot of time working on it, it was actually all produced while we were on tour across the country. It has always been very important to us, and we are so thrilled with everyone’s thoughts on it and how we’ve grown up over the last year.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

A: I pride myself in writing music that is personal, and real. For this particular track, it was written about a combination of events between myself as well as other people I know who all had similar experiences. There wasn’t necessarily only one event, but sort of a whole group of events that took place with some sort of common thing about them.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

A: No video is planned for this single. However, we fully intend on releasing a video for one of our next singles to come from our E.P. very soon!

How was the recording and writing process?

A: The song was written with a huge bass line that I had for about 2 weeks and knew I wanted it to be the backbone of the track. Once I wrote the lyrics, I immediately started to write down ways to perform it live and ways to produce it as well. While on tour, every day I would record a little bit, listening for small things that I could notice from the day before. Over time, I had the track about 90% and at that point it’s just about being picky. I consider myself a perfectionist and I can’t have any part of my music that I really don’t like or I will not be able to ever be fully happy with the way it sounds. But from the beginning, I had an idea of how I wanted it to be and would write jot notes down and incorporate those notes into the production.

What role does Winnipeg play in your music?

A: We love our hometown. Being from Winnipeg gives us so much. Being honest, there isn’t a huge pop scene in Winnipeg, there are only a few artists and this gives us so much freedom to do whatever we want and to have so much fun and be as creative as we can. Being from Winnipeg, we feel like we have so much musical heritage to live up to. The Guess Who, BTO, Harlequin, these are all bands and artists that have been from Winnipeg and been so successful with their careers. We love these artists, and hope to one day have other artists look up to us the way we do to them.

Has  DNCE and One Direction influenced your writing?

A: They have definitely influenced us in many ways, with the way we play live and how we may produce a song. While writing, it always comes from us and is always very personal. While writing, we always make sure it is true and real and has meaning to us. So many artists, similar to DNCE and One Direction, have influenced us and shape us to be the artists we are.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

A: It is coming along very well, just finishing up touches on the final few tracks off of our debut EP, to come out hopefully in the fall or early Winter. We are so happy with the way things have been going, and have so many plans for this EP. Feeling has been such a great starter to give everyone a feel for what we are all about. In comparison, the other songs are similar, yet at the same time completely different and are their own thing. We aren’t sure exactly when the next single is coming out, but we fully intend to do it very soon and can’t wait to share that with everyone as well!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

A: We aren’t fully sure when it will all be released, but are hoping to have the next single come out in the fall with any other singles and the EP in early winter. So many titles have been written down, we just have so many different ways we want it all to go. They change everyday, but we are slowly narrowing it down.

Any plans to hit the road?

A: As of right now, we just plan on releasing more music. That’s our biggest goal right now, just getting it all out there. Then once the EP is released, we will start looking at doing another tour maybe next summer. Still all depends on when the EP comes out and when we begin to look at dates, but definitely is on our list of things getting planned out!

What else is happening next in ENCORE’s world?

A: The biggest thing that we can’t stress enough is the new music. The rest of the tracks on the EP, just like “Feeling,” are all so unique and special to us. We have been working so hard to finish up the tracks, and are thrilled to see the world’s response to it all. Our music is sort of our story, the way we think, the way we are, how we feel. It is so amazing yet so intimidating at the same time releasing it all, because you just put it out there and people do what they want with it. Other than releasing music, we hope to do shows and what not once the EP comes out. Our biggest goal is to connect with as many people through our music as we can. We want to be the artist that people listen to in their car, when they’re with friends, and when they’re laying down at night relaxing.

Thank you so much for doing this interview with us! We loved the questions and really appreciate the interest in “Feeling!”
