CARTER REEVES DIGS DEEP ON INTROSPECTIVE, INFECTIOUS “BITTERSWEET”

Carter Reeves continues to build upon his buzz in 2018 with “Bittersweet”, an ultra-melodic new single that shows the continual evolution of his pop-styled sounds. The track comes on the heels of “Pay Day” and “Fly High”, a pair of releases that received spins on Beats 1 Radio and support from a variety of outlets including PAPER and Ones To Watch. Reeves will also take his upward momentum to the live circuit with a September tour alongside The Holdup (all dates below).

On the inspiration behind “Bittersweet”, Reeves explains, “I wrote Bittersweet a few days after leaving a relationship.  The reason the song is called “Bittersweet” is due to the emotions behind my decision to end the relationship.  I ended the relationship because I needed to regain my personal time and to focus selfishly and undividedly on myself.  It was really sad for me to end something that brought me so much joy, but ultimately it was the best decision for myself.”

He goes on to say, “The chorus ‘I still think about you’ is honest — I do still think about my ex.  There was no problem in the relationship, I just felt like I needed to move on, which is a tough way to part.  On the flip side, there is an underlying happy sentiment that I am now on the right path, and all my focus is on myself.

Reeves spent the past six years achieving global recognition as part of the alternative hip-hop duo Aer before making the move to solo material on his Fresh Fruit EP. Hailed by Nylon as “what California Cool™ daydreams are made of,” the record has allotted over a million streams to date, preceded two standalone singles in “Grip” and “Aquarium”, and led to a performance by Reeves at Billboard’s Hot 100 Fest.

“Bittersweet” is out now.
