OcnSide Releases Summery Indie-Pop Single “Taking Me Over”

Float into summertime with the lo-fi sounds of OcnSide’s debut single, “Taking Me Over.” An electrically vibing song about the intimately inescapable feelings of fresh love, the single calls to mind those heart-fluttering, stomach-sinking moments of a warm summer night. “Taking Me Over” is now available for download and streaming on digital music platforms worldwide.

Delicately diving into the dynamics of a summer romance, OcnSide concedes to the inevitably overwhelming emotions during those short-lived, yet intense intimacies. “The song is really just about love,” says Tony Aguiar. “That all-encompassing and powerful feeling that love gives. Once you find it, you never want to let go and you never want it to end. You just let it take you over.” A lovesick longing, “Taking Me Over” muses heartfelt, sincere imagery familiar to the wide-eyed days of youth and love; a wild, uninhibited emotion without the protection of guard walls or safety nets.

In the swelteringly heat of summer 2017, David Dennis and Tony Aguiar locked themselves in a room at the famed Sound City Studios to unknowingly craft OcnSide. They took a few years off from music following the break-up of their previous band,Voxhaul Broadcast. A chance connection via their former manager, Steven Melrose, found them an opportunity to work out of Sound City, the same studio that fostered hits by Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Nirvana, and countless others. By the end of the summer, OcnSide left the studio with twenty-five tracks and a completely new sound from anything they had done previously.

Based out of Highland Park in Los Angeles, their mix and love of vintage R&B, soul and rock delivers catchy, massive songs accompanied by huge gospel-inspired vocals. Finding solace and comfort living ocean-side, Aguiar and Dennis pay tribute to their biggest inspiration in their band name. “I guess we believe that there is a certain frequency that people experience when they live close to the ocean,” said the duo. “The ocean feels like the promise land: free, forgiving and enduring.”

“Taking Me Over” is already being spun on Los Angeles radio stations, KSCN and KCRW, and is being raved by many as the song of the summer. Stream or download the single on all digital music platforms and keep up with OcnSide atInstagram.com/OcnSideMusic.
