Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Bob Marley”?
Absolutely! We are releasing “Party Like Bob Marley” this Summer because it is a good vibes, party, let loose and care less, type of song. I got to collaborate with an amazing rapper from Atlanta named Profisi Kev. He truly helped give this song the edge it needed to be even greater than before. I am humbled to have met him and work with him. I guarantee the melody will be stuck in your head just as much as it has been stuck in ours.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
So I actually had some lyrical help with this song. One of my incredible team members, Shea, was the backbone to this song. She helped with the lyrics and came up with a really catchy melody for me to grow the song from. We wanted a fun and happy song that would help people end the Summer on a good note.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
This song made creating an awesome video easy. I had a fantastic team set up and Profisi Kev even drove all the way down to Virginia to be a part of it, which I am so grateful for. I believe this video is going to be amazing and I enjoyed every minute of the process.
The single comes off your new album As Is – what’s the story behind the title?
So actually this is my first single being released after the release of my album “As Is”, so it is not actually a part of it. However, I would be happy to elaborate on the title of the album for you. I have a hard time, as many people do, to sit in the present and accept what is and not try to change it. The title “As Is” was inspired by the goal of accepting everything as it is.
How was the recording and writing process?
Like every song I have done, there were ups and downs. Things don’t always go the way you want it to, whether musically, technologically, or vocally. Luckily, my producer Stephen Antonelli is supportive and eager to make great music with me. He has been a huge help and a big part of my music. I am so thankful for him.
How Cassadee Pope and Lauren Alaina has influence your music?
Both artists are so humble and genuine. They write music that you can feel in your own soul. You can tell how emotional they are when they sing and record. They are also such beautiful and kind people. I aspire to be like them one day.
What aspect of your life did you get to explore on this record?
I got to bring my wild side back to life in this song. While being in graduate school and settling down, partying is not on the table that often. It was nice to be able to let loose again.
Any plans to hit the road?
None yet, but I have considered it. I am not taking the idea out of the picture.
What else is happening next in Kamryn Marie’s world?
I am already back in the studio creating more music, so no sign of me stopping any time soon!
