Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Chasing Shadows”?
I’m really excited about Chasing Shadows as it’s my first single and it was great fun being in studio and getting to see the result of all my hard work!
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
I wanted to write about something that would be recognisable to people my age. Many people have experienced a relationship that they were giving more to than the other person and also the point when they decide they deserve better. I tried to capture that moment in the song.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
The video for the single was premiered on Metro and is on my You Tube channel. It was a really fun day’s filming. The crew were lovely and we laughed most of the time.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording and writing experience was amazing. It was great to create my own music and I learned so much through the process.
How did your time on The Voice Kid help you grow as an artist?
My time on the VK was incredible, I made some great friends and having Pixie was a mentor was amazing. She helped me become a more confident performer and continues to support me. I grew as a performer throughout the series and want to keep developing. I’m still young and know I have a lot to learn if I want to be the artist I hope to become.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
It’s always interesting collaborating as it’s great to bounce ideas around with someone else. They can inspire and challenge you.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
I love writing almost as much as singing so have lots of new material. I hope to release some of it soon. We’ve just got to pin down what and when.
Any plans to hit the road?
Performing live is exhilarating and would love to tour, maybe with other young artists. I want to get out and sing my songs so people can know me for my own material. Watch this space.
