INTERVIEW: Englomanatic Glitch

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

– Hungover on a double shift, but thanks for having us.

(Drew)

– I woke up half an hour ago but I am better than Drew is.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “The Raid”?

-(Drew)It’s a song about being stuck at home, with no money, food or a anything to do. We were drinking bottles of Corona, when Viko was coming back from work. We had so many of them that we could never clean them all. And one day we were just jamming and the main riff came out.

-(Vik) We were working with a Scottish guy called Max and he said he had a friend with a studio where we could get a good deal. I bought plane tickets for a friend of mine to come and shoot the video. After that Max disappeared from the face of the Earth and we were left with no studio. It wasn’t the nicest situation but we managed to sort it out in the end.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

-(Drew) Not really, just being stuck at home.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

-(Vik) Yeah, we shot a video while recoding the song and it’s coming along with it.

How was the recording and writing process?

-(Drew) There was no writing process, we just improvised it, haha. Yes we are dickheads.

-(Vik) The recording was all of us in the same room, recording together, one take. We just recorded the vocals separately, because there was too much bleeding in the mic.

What role does West London play in your music?

-(Drew) It doesn’t really matter where we are to be honest.

-(Vik) Cheap rent.

How Black Sun Empire and Tool has influence your writing?

-(Vik) I don’t know really. I just blast them all the time.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

-(Drew) Yeah, still in the writing.

-(Vik)Probably I will book a studio without having the songs. We work really efficiently when we are pressured by a dead line, but a new release is definitely on the table.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

-(Vik) It will probably come out early next year and there is still no name for it.

Any plans to hit the road?

-(Drew) We are working on it and hopefully we will hit the road soon.

What else is happening next in Englomanatic Glitch’s world?

-(Vik) The video to be released, new songs after that. And figuring out how to play “Coming Undone” together as a band!

-(Drew) Gigs and Tuesday.
