Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Play It By Beer”?
For sure! ‘Play It By Beer’ is a light hearted upbeat summer adventure. I feel like we can all relate to how amazing it would be to jump in a car and take off somewhere!? The song is about a young couple driving down the California coast and falling in love.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Yes! I’ve always loved the idea of just deciding in a moments notice to take off and go somewhere different and I’ve done just that a few times. The feeling is amazing!
Any plans to release a video for the single?
There is a possibility of a video. Hopefully my schedule will free up enough in the near future to make that happen!
What was it like to work with Spencer Cheyne and Justin Kudding?
Spencer and Justin are both incredible people to work with but more importantly incredible people in general. We all have he same vision for this record so that has been great.
What did they brought up to the table?
Aside from being fantastic producers they both have winning attitudes, they have always believed in me as an artist. I think it’s imperative to work with people in the industry that understand your vision.
What role does Canada play in your music?
Country music has always hit me like no other genre of music. Growing up there was always country music playing whether it was Alan Jackson in my dads truck or Shania Twain while my mom was cleaning the house.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! We are currently in the works of finishing the album. We don’t have a release date yet.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The record consists of a lot of clever play on word type songs. You can expect the title will be somewhere along those lines!
Any plans to hit the road?
We’re on the road as we speak. Myself and the band are on our way out to Vancouver island to perform Sunfest! From there I head back to Alberta to perform Big Valley Jamboree, come to the hills music festival, Country thunder. Then I will be heading out to Ontario to start the other leg of the radio tour, followed by CCMA’s then Back to Nashville. So it’s been crazy!
What else is happening next in Brad Saunders’s world
Any downtime I have I’m hoping to spend time with my beautiful wife and daughter. Hoping to get away to our cabin in Montana for a few days. Maybe even jump on the motorbike and go somewhere. Who knows, we’ll have to ‘Play It By Beer’ 🙂
