INTERVIEW: Hip-Hop Artist Brandon Rose

Hi Brandon, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I am well, currently pushing my new project Street Scholar!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “You Ain’t Know”?

“You Ain’t Know” was made with the vision of showing people the impact that I bring to the culture of Hip-Hop, and what the game would be like without me.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Meek Mill’s incarceration had inspired me to write and create the visual for the song, the visual represents bike life culture and its a fast paced video with tons of energy and action.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

The video should be released in August.

The single comes off your new album Street Scholar – what’s the story behind the title?

Street Scholar represents who I am as a person, an individual who grew up and was surrounded by street activity yet chose to remain educated and grounded in society. I recently graduated with a Master’s Degree from NYU, and I am grateful to say that I chose the life that I am living.

How was the recording and writing process?

The recording and writing process took over a year, due to the fact that I was juggling school work and music. I really tried to create a sound with this project, as most of the beats are very dark/90’s hip-hop oriented.

What role does Bronx play in your music?

The Bronx is where I grew up, and I represented my neighborhood Throggs Neck in my first album release, Cold Blooded. The Bronx will always have a place in my heart, as I look to represent and bring Bronx culture together.

What aspect of the street did you get to explore on this record?

This record explores the the lifestyle of street culture, respecting the hustle for life, and the motivation to make a name for myself.

How personal was this album intended to be?

This album wasn’t as personal as my first, but I aimed to have a strong connection with what my fans resonated with most from my music, which were strong, passionate street songs.

Any plans to hit the road?

As of right now I plan to do many shows and showcases around the tri-state area.

What else is happening next in Brandon Rose’s world?

New music videos will be dropping off the album, more shows, major interviews and placements, and new merchandise will be released soon.
