Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Between The Sheets”?
We’re really chuffed with the response for this latest single! It’s one of our favourite songs to play live and has actually been our set opener since the moment we finished it!
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
At the time we were all struggling to maintain. Sometimes it feels like there are not enough hours in the day you know? And our relationships with the people we love tend to suffer the most. We think a lot of people get caught up in the same situation. It’s definitely a universal problem and the song is just an honest reflection of how we felt.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We haven’t at this point but the response has been so great it’s something we may think about.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was a really organic process and a pretty typical one for us. Someone will bring an idea into the studio, whether that’s a lyric, a story or a finished song; and we’ll keep trying different versions until it feels right. Until it sounds like us.
What role does Brighton play in your writing?
Brighton is an amazing place and full of interesting characters. It’s where we all met and became friends! So it’ll always have a special meaning to us as a band.
How have The Killers influenced your music?
Something about Brandon Flowers melody and lyric writing is so romantic. You can really get lost in his epic storylines. The man definitely knows how to paint a picture!
What is it about the 80s that you find so fascinating?
There’s so much about the 80s sound which is great! The drum sounds, the synths, the fact you can dance to nearly any song. It’s hard to know where to start.
Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
We have a lot of songs in the pipeline that we are very excited about. The more we write together the more cohesive our sound becomes.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
No set title in mind just yet but hopefully a new release in the latter stages of this year.
Any plans to hit the road?
We’ve got some more gigs coming up, which we will be announcing soon. We can’t wait to get back onstage.
What else is happening next in Twilight Driving’s world?
We’re currently writing and recording a couple more tracks, and we have our first headline show in Brighton later in the year. So we’re working our way up to that with some shows between now and then!
