The band based in Santa Cruz, CA have been making waves with their dreamy indie rock tones that hypnotizes us again and again. The video is equally as enticing as it brings the spirit of the band to life. Taken from their new record “I Can Hear Your Voice,” Pyro Mids are one of the frontrunners of the West Coast indie scene.
Joe Perrin of the band shares about the video:
“Filmed in VHS in Cambria, CA, ‘Never Gone’ is about navigating through the emotional turbulence such as grief or despair that can cloud a relationship. It’s also about the compromises and growth that are necessary to get through to these dark times and back into the light. You can do it.”
Growing up in Florida’s Tampa Bay region where dense highways and strip malls stretched for miles upon miles, PYRO MIDS’ Joey Perrin turned to skateboarding, music and filmmaking for an escape. Eventually becoming a respected filmmaker in skateboarding’s indie video scene, Perrin would often score his skate films with music he’d made while “just messing around” with his friends. It wasn’t until he moved to Santa Cruz, CA to pursue a job in the skateboard industry that Perrin got more serious about the music he was making. One night while making some beats and beginning to form the structure for what would soon become the first PYRO MIDS track, his friend and roommate Devin Eiring came in and started playing some lead guitar lines over it, and things clicked for Perrin. Eiring has been a steady presence with his cutting, yet smooth lead guitar work, but the band has always had a revolving door of contributions from friends, family and other musicians whom Perrin has met along the way.Made up of Joey Perrin (Guitar, Vocals, Songwriting), and Devin Eiring (Lead Guitar), the band is ready to take over the world, one song at a time.
