Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Let Music”?
Let Music is a bit different than our usual compositions. It’s beat and style you can say it’s a mix of Franz Ferdinand and Nirvana. You have the dance verse and the rock chorus combination, with pop melodies all around the song. When we first played it we weren’t completely sure if we should put it out or not, but here we are now releasing it as our second single.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
To be honest not really. This specific song was a collaboration in between the band and we liked it because it was different. When we moved in London and got signed by The Animal Farm, Ville, our manager, helped us a lot to put some final touches and the song was ready for recording.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Actually yes, we’ll release a video which we’re really proud of the final result. We shot it with a really good friend of ours, Ben Macfadyen, with literally spending 0£. It was really fun and we are really lucky having such a talented friend.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was our first recording in London so you can say it was a big deal for us. We were really lucky to work with an exceptional sound engineer/producer, Jamie Todd, at the studio of our record label. The collaboration was perfect and we’re very happy with the results.
What role does Greece play in your music?
That’s a really good question. Of course it plays a really crucial role. Because we were born and raised in Greece, unconsciously and consciously a lot of influences are coming from Greek rock bands and traditional Greek music. Of course we were listening to English and American rock music, which we love, but growing up with all of these different sounds around as, from the Greek traditional music with bouzouki to the blues rock of America, we try to put as many influences as we can to our music.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
We have a lot of material in our bags and we have already recorded some of them and you can expect them later this year. So stay tuned.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
We don’t really know the next release date after “Let Music” but we do know the title which we’re not gonna tell you but it might change the world.
Any plans to hit the road?
For now we don’t have any plans for a tour yet but we play a lot of gigs around London so if someone wants to see us it can follow as on our social media.
What else is happening next in The Magic Lotus’ world?
We keep releasing new music, we work hard, and sky is the limit Thanks very much for the interview it was really fun! Take care.
