Runrummer Announces Debut EP
East London based singer, songwriter and producer, Runrummer is set to release her debut EP on 9th November 2018.
The ‘Soul Wrinkles’ EP was recorded and co-produced with Rob Daniels at the Cafe Music Studio (Jon Hopkins, Brian Eno, Imogen Heap) in Bow. Innovative and beautifully crafted future-perfect electropop, the EP will be available digitally on all major platforms and features four brand new tracks including ‘Eyes’, ‘Penny Drop’, ‘Soul Wrinkles’ and lead single ‘Good For Nothing’.
A very personal song about struggling with depression and anxiety, ‘Good For Nothing’ is a song of escapism which can sometimes feel like a descent into blissful madness. Inspired by Merryn Jeann and her collaborations with Tora and Møme, the lead single is, despite its sombre subject matter, a “proper summer banger” set for release on the 10th August 2018.
EP Track Listing:
02. ‘Good For Nothing’
03. ‘Penny Drop’
04. ‘Soul Wrinkles’
Runrummer, AKA Livi Morris, is originally from Bromsgrove on the outskirts of Birmingham and takes her moniker from the famous Rum Runner Club that helped launch local Brummie bands Duran Duran and Dexys Midnight Runners in the 70s and 80s. Growing up listening to her dad’s records from that time, she began writing poetry which naturally turned into song lyrics when she got her first guitar at eleven years old.
By seventeen Morris was rapidly crafting her style, writing for renowned electronic acts such as The Chainsmokers and Showtek through the 2-Dutch record label. However other outside factors saw her become disillusioned with the music business, leading the young songwriter to breakaway for a while and take up university studies.
Slightly older and wiser, with her creative spark regained after compiling endless playlists from Majestic Casual, The Sound You Need and La Belle Musique YouTube channels, Runrummer has now emerged and is ready to confirm her place as one of the most exciting, new and truly inventive artists around right now. Taking influence from artists like Flume, ODESZA and Tame Impala, along with new names Hayley Kiyoko and King Princess, some of her other tracks confront struggles with sexuality and gender identity, as you will soon hear. Fuelled by a passion to tell her story and connect with people, Runrummer is sure to quickly cement herself as the new face of hard-hitting British electropop.
