Hi KING, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi there, I’ve been well thanks! I’m currently in sessions always, grinding J

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Mango”?

There are so many things I could say about Mango, I don’t know where to start. Essentially Mango is Cuban slang for a hot guy. There isn’t one particular event that inspired me, but since 2014 I wanted a write a mango song and finally I got it right four years down the line. It sort of just came to me in the studio when I was writing the song.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

We filmed in Barcelona: most of the video is filmed in Saint Cugat. I really love that town and wanted to film there as I have some friends there so it felt special to do the video there. My friends also appear in the last scene in my video, which was great.

How was the recording and writing process?

I’m not gonna lie: this record was the hardest record I’ve made. Why? It was a very tough process getting the record actually released. I fought a real battle with the label and producers to see it through, but I triumphed ultimately. As far as the writing goes and studio flow; it was a smooth and beautiful process and I believe the song retains that vibe.

How your upbringing has influence your music?

I spent my youth listening to Marc Anthony, Niña Pastori, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Robyn, Lil John, Chingy to name a few. I think all of these have influenced my music.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are writing a song in another language rather than in your own?

I’ve written songs in Spanish before, and have also written in Danish. Language is very fluent and fluid in my mind, so I mix my English with Spanish very often. This is also called Spanglish right? In fact I’m releasing a new track with SNAVS soon which has some Spanish in it, which will be featured on his upcoming album. Stay tuned for that in August.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

You should expect anything from me, at any time. So be ready!

What else is happening next in KING’s world?

My aunt always tells me :”Al rio no hay que empujar”. So I try to stay open while working hard to make the most out of any opportunities.
