INTERVIEW: Electronic Artist PiMO

Hi P, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi VENTS I am great! Thank you very much for having me!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Fantasy Island”?

This is my newest track off my double sided single Triumph/Fantasy Island available through my label PiMO MUSIC. This is my second release this year and it’s receiving amazing feedback so far. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I thought to myself that this will be the best way to sum up my new relationship with my girlfriend. I felt that what was bad was finally gone and now I am on this “safe island”.  I guess Fantasy Island is a synonym for something that is very special to me.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

I was looking for visuals, but as an independent artist I am always on a tight budget. I needed something that I could afford and would not look cheesy in the end. I found these guys at Zomo Visuals. They came up with this very simple idea and added some excellent cinematography. I have to say I am very happy with the final result.

How was the recording and writing process?

I usually start off with the bass line, but never end up with the original idea. It’s always about experimenting with new sounds and concepts.  I used to be very strict about PiMO sound, but now I try not to copy my previous ideas. I started to appreciate diversity. For instance the Triumph/Fantasy Island release presents a perfect balance of symmetry and asymmetry. This is an excellent example of what I want to achieve with my music in the near future.

What role does Poland play in your music?

I’m a true believer that it is very important to remember where you came from, and how you got wherever it is that you are. The Polish electronic dance scene is relatively young and the music market is very hermetic so It’s always good to be noticed abroad. The awareness of origin is very important because I believe that where you come from influences what you create.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?

All collaborations are set aside. I am at the stage of self-development. For very long time I’ve devoted myself to other projects and never had a chance to pursue my dreams. Currently, the most important thing is to set the right direction for PiMO and this requires time and full commitment.

How Apex Twin and Duran Duran has influence your writing?

My inspirations are very diverse and they come from various surroundings. I like to work with sound contrasts when writing new music. I get my inspirations from different genres just to be sure that my music does not sound too cliché.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I will be releasing new music 25 th of September and December 4th via my label PiMO MUSIC. All tracks are finished and ready to be published. These releases will unlock a spectrum of my production capabilities. More release dates to be announced shortly.

Would these two singles serve to set the tone of the album?

I am sure that the time will come to release an album. I just don’t think this is the right moment yet.  At this point, I am focused on single releases and working hard to raise PiMO’s visibility.

Any plans to hit the road?

I know it’s not the best explanation but being an artist and a label owner takes a lot of time. I am putting this at the top of my priority list. I will keep you posted with my booking dates.

What else is happening next in PiMO’s world?

I would like to invite all of you to my PiMO’s world and follow me on instagram(https://www.instagram.com/pimomusic) and other social networks like soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/pimomusic Please feel free to send me any feedback or questions.
