Less than a month away from the official release of their new single and accompanying video “Mosquito Bite”, [ALEXANDROS] have shared a special collaborative video with the live-action film BLEACH – for which it will serve as the main theme song. Watch here
BLEACH originally started out as a comic on “Weekly Shonen Jump” in 2001. The manga has gone on to sell over 120 million copies in print worldwide. The film is a live-action adaptation of the best-selling manga starring Sota Fukushiand directed by Shinsuke Sato, who has directed numerous hit Japanese films including “GANTZ”. It is one of the most anticipated films of the summer and [ALEXANDROS] will sing the theme song “Mosquito Bite” as well as a second featured track, “MILK”.
Upon watching the film for the first time, [ALEXANDROS] frontman, Yoohei, suggested that a demo the band was working on might match up perfectly with a particular scene. The director, Shinya Sato, listened to “MILK” on Yoohei’s phone, and agreed there was a natural synergy between the music and film. After a long period of brainstorming between artist and director, “MILK” and a second single, “Mosquito Bite” ended up as an essential part of the film.
Yoohei comments regarding “Mosquito Bite”:
My first impression was that the film’s ‘I’m not giving in’ mentality matched perfectly with the track. I already had the title ‘Mosquito Bite’ in mind, as it also means that ‘it’s only like a mosquito bite when you are trying to hurt me’. When we were recording in New York, it became our motivational song to keep our heads high. It shows how much we have grown as a band and I feel like this will open another door for us.”
Yoohei compares himself to Ichigo, who transforms from an ordinary high school student to a warrior battling against the bad spirit, Hollow, and the soul reapers. The special collaboration video shows Ichigo trying to fight evil, saying emphatically, “I won’t lose this battle!”, which captures the spirit of “Mosquito Bite” to a tee.
The single’s cover art, which was also revered alongside the video, can be found below and “Mosquito Bite” will be available in full on July 18th.
