Blanco White Shares New Song “Olalla”

Blanco White has shared new song “Olalla,” a whirling ode to whimsical place. The blend of gradually building melody and Blanco White’s evocatively quivering vocals make for an entrancing musical experience. Today’s release follows “Nocturne,” an equally chilling track that earned immediate playlist spotlight on Apple Music’s Best Of The Week and Acoustic Chill as well as Spotify’s New Music Friday, New Alternative Fresh Folk and more. Blanco White will make his way to the US this fall, with tour dates in NYCDCLA and more. The full list is below.

Blanco White says of the song, “‘Olalla’ is a song about the appearing towns and villages of Southern Europe. Often these places are staggeringly beautiful, but are slowly being abandoned as jobs ad communities migrate elsewhere. I think I just felt moved by that idea of loss and seemingly inevitable change. Although the narrative laments that change, I hope the song would still be uplifting in some way and capture some of the excitement that I’ve felt when stumbling across a beautiful place.”

Blanco White is the solo project of Londoner, Josh Edwards. Having studied guitar in Cádiz, Spain and charango in Sucre, Bolivia, Edwards blends elements of Latin American and Andalusian music with influences closer to home. The result is beyond exotic; it’s otherworldly. He released his self-produced debut EP The Wind Rose on Yucatan Records in early 2016. He recorded his second EP Colder Heavens later that same year, with producer Ian Grimble (Bear’s DenMatt CorbyDaughter), and released it last spring to critical delight.
