Thank you! I’m doing great, keeping busy and grateful you guys are having me.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Day Without You”?
The song holds a special and vulnerable place in my heart. “A Day Without” isn’t necessarily about loosing someone, rather the contrary, but the song really hit me and helped me heal when my dad passed. Further, I think the song is general but specific enough that the listener can truly hear it and attach their own story and feelings to the subject—a relatable song is my favorite kind.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Although I did not write this song, I find it to be incredibly close to my heart because of the emotions it provokes for me personally, and the potential I feel it has to do for others.
Any plans to release a video for the single? Can you tell us about it?
Yes! We just recently released the video. The storyline focuses on two relationships, both pairs going through events that will separate them. It faces the listener, or watcher in this case, to think about the ones they love and how hard it is to loose them—in a sense, I think it prompts people to be even more grateful for the meaningful relationships they have with those close to them.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process of “A Day Without” in particular was possibly one of the easiest I have ever done! We we’re, no lie, finished with the vocal in under an hour. I think that the short amount of time allowed for a genuine and vulnerable performance.
What made you want to seek for a new direction?
Although I wouldn’t say I have wholeheartedly embarked from my previous bodies of work, I certainly would say that as I grow and continue, I make sure my music does the same. My art is truly me, just sung and put to music, so as I evolve it evolves with me.
What new sounds did you get to explore on this record?
This record was truly a joy and incredibly fulfilling because I was determined to shut out all preconceived restrictions and just make the music good. This made the entire process all the more enjoyable and freeing.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
I find Inspiration in everyday life. Wether it be a phrase or thought I have or hear, or something I am currently going through. Everyone experiences similar emotions and I try to cater to helping others through that, as music has always done so for me.
Any plans to hit the road?
Always planning! I’ve been on the road for radio promotion and recently wrapped CMA fest and am greatly looking forward to what’s next. Stay tuned!
What else is happening next in Abi’s world?
Music making, traveling, and promoting my newly released music! I plan on releasing a lot more content in the near future and cannot wait!
