INTERVIEW: Aaron Sibley

Hi Aaron, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello! I have been great, Very very busy though, but great nonetheless.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “08:55″?

I have just released my newest single “08:55”. It is out and available on all music platforms. I have also released a ‘mini-movie’ music video along with the music.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

All of my music is very personal to me. I have always used music as my therapy. This song is no exception. I was in a seeing someone for a few months when I first moved to London. I fell in love straight away, I just couldn’t spend enough time with him. Unfortunately 3 months in, he had to leave. He was not from the UK and due to certain circumstances he needed to go back home. My heart was broken. I felt an emptiness I don’t think I have truly felt in my life before. I wrote 08:55 the day he left.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

The filming process was amazing. I knew of someone who is a cinematographer. And we have been talking for a few years about doing a music video. After I had recorded the song we finally got together to plan it.

The storyline came together so quick, and on the week of shoots, I was so shocked at the level of professionals and efficiency that the team had. It was a true joy to work with each and every one of them.

And there may be more videos to come in the not so distant future…

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing process was very easy for me. Like I have said before, I use music as a therapy. This song helped me put how I was feeling into words and therefor, helped me get over the pain. I had a very clear vision with this song, and when it came to the recording and the production of the song, it was a very smooth process. I worked with a producer who understood my vision perfectly and the song actually came together really fast.

What role does London play in your music?

London plays a HUGE part in my music. I come from a small town in the south west of England and there really isn’t a very large music scene there. Nor, is there very many opportunities. After moving to London, 3 months in, I already had the amazing opportunity to sing in front of 10+ people at London Pride. It is surreal how many opportunities London has to offer and I am so excited to explore them all.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

It does indeed. I am in the process of recording a handful of songs for an EP. But in the meantime you can expect another single to be released this year.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

No date is set in stone yet, and I do have a title. But I’m afraid I cannot share this information… at least not quite yet..

What aspect of love and other themes will you exploring moving on?

I am a HUGE fan of Eurovision. I actually completed in the National finals for Moldova earlier this year. I expect to be writing songs for the competition again next year.

I also love collaborating with other artists. I have met a lot of talented people on my adventures so far, and there are some collaborated originals and covers in the pipeline.

The EP I am working on has a very clear sound. It is my signature sound. Acoustic Pop with warm Soulful Vocals. But after this is released I am looking forward playing around with new styles and seeing where that takes me.

Any plans to hit the road?

No plans as of yet… but I would love to go on tour. Perhaps after Eurovision next year, I will touring the country with my band.

What else is happening next in Aaron Sibley’s world?

There is a lot happening in Aaron Sibley world. Unfortunately I cannot announce everything, all I can say is that you will be seeing a lot more of me.
