INTERVIEW: Ottawa

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Fantastic, thank you.

Can you talk to us more about your upcoming single, “Strangers”?

It’s a song we all love; it was written very quickly and we knew it was special right away. We did, however, write a new chorus while we were recording it which also happened insanely fast-literally ten minutes.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No specific event, just getting to an age where whenever you meet someone you start thinking, ‘is this “The one” or just a stranger’? It’s about that fine line between the two.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

We will be releasing an acoustic video for “Strangers”, but not a full on video. There will be a few of those happening, though, so stay tuned.

How was the recording and writing process?

For this song, it was honestly super fun and relatively easy, which is NEVER the case. It’s usually a tug of war with the song to get it right.

What role does Cleveland play in your writing?

We love Cleveland but what it gives us as far as writing goes is the desire to write something good enough to get to see the world. We work insanely hard on the writing part- that work ethic definitely stems from growing up working class.

Does the new single mean we can expect more new material and, if so, how’s that coming along?

Yes, all summer, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes, we’re looking for the right opportunity as we speak.

What else is happening next in Ottawa’s world?

Pushing the hell out of these new songs, non-stop writing and ,if we play our cards right, hopefully something really special!
