Abi Releases New Music Video For “A Day Without”

Abi has return with the release of her new music video for “A Day Without.” Watch here

Abi’s music has been shaped by the various experiences she has gone through so far in her life – relationships, break-ups, traveling and performing for thousands of people while touring across the United States. It’s real-life moments that she wouldn’t trade for anything. “I think that growing up in Texas, moving to LA, then to Nashville has dramatically helped me embrace all cultures, musics, etc. as well as be inspired by them,” she says. Abi also credits her parents for encouraging her – and being a part of her journey – which included the ultimate tragedy of losing her father before she was a teenager. “I think that gave me a redefined perspective on life, and it definitely enabled me to channel much deeper emotions than before into my craft.”

Musically, Abi’s influences run the gamut – though Shania Twain stands tall in her heart as someone who captivated her attention as a child. “I grew up adoring her, and she is definitely a big reason as to why I fell in love with country – the same goes for Keith Urban, especially with his sonics being so pop leaning,” she says. As far as today’s artists who play a role in defining her sound, she lists Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerlini, Lorde and Halsey – of whom she says “Halsey tends to only release themed albums, but you would never know it if you solely listened to the songs; I love that. I tend to be very visual, and themed bodies of work really speak to me.”

Abi hopes that her new single, “A Day Without,” will have that same effect on listeners. “That was a song I became obsessed with from the first listen. As someone who dealt with the loss of my father around the same time I was sent this song, I felt incredibly drawn to honor another talented soul gone too soon,” she said of Andrew Dorff, the late writer of the song – who passed away in December 2016. “The subject matter of the song felt like I was speaking to those individuals that were loved so dearly. It’s incredibly well written, emotional, raw and vulnerable. Jimmy Robbins (who also co-wrote and produced the cut) put his magic on this track,” she continues, “This song brings up a lot of emotions for me. The sheer thought of loosing someone and how absolutely terrifying it is, but also the deep love you must have for an individual to feel like you cannot go on a day without them.”

Getting to share her emotions – and her story – is something that Abi doesn’t take lightly. “As a child who grew up in musical theatre and on a stage, performing is second nature to me—and it’d be fair to say that I’m more comfortable there than anywhere else. With that said, playing large rooms like arenas has been a dream come true and one of the biggest highlights of my singing career hands down. Being told that my music has helped another individual in an emotional way has also always been a huge goal of mine. Anytime I’ve been told that I’ve moved somebody, it truly reaffirms I can impact people through music, and that gives me so much purpose.”

What does Abi hope that “A Day Without” shows about her forthcoming music? “I hope that this song plays the role of a hopeless love in my project’s world of heartbreak, love and everything in between. It’s tells the story of relationships with people who truly become a part of you.”
