Born and bred in London, singer/songwriter Olaedo Ibe is rapidly becoming known for injecting her edgy spin on good old soulful R&B, but with her latest single, ‘Good Life’, the smooth songstress takes a detour and incorporates spicy chords, fusing tropical house with Afrobeats. Written by Olaedo Ibe and Luke “GKID” Grant, the single features the harmonious vocals of singer Leke and GXMMA-award-winning gospel artist, Becca Folkes.
Released today, the accompanied video encompasses the up-tempo vibes of Luke ‘GKID’ Grant-produced banger with positive and empowering lyrics that guarantees you to cast any woes aside and sing along at the top of your lungs! Watch here
Although Olaedo was born in London, she spent her childhood in Nigeria, exposed to numerous styles of music, citing Bebe and Cece Winans to Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, Mary Mary and Jill Scott as sources of influence. Upon returning to the UK at the age of 14, she shared the stage with Peabo Bryson at the Cadogen Hall and with the encouragement from the late David Gest – who managed Roy Ayers and Deniece Williams – she pursued her music career, doing sessions at Camden Town’s Roundhouse.
Olaedo became a force to be reckoned with when her video for single ‘Dust to Life’ was picked up by Yahoo Website in 2015 after the release of her debut EP ‘Shine Like Gold’. The video for her previous single ‘Lead Me’ caught the attention of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) – the world’s leading Christian TV network – receiving heavy rotation on their channel.
Further cementing her place in the music scene, Olaedo secured numerous award nominations, including MOBO nominee for Best Gospel Act, Premier Gospel Music Award nominee for Best Newcomer and Jump Music Awards nominee for R&B Female Video.
‘Good Life’ shows her ever-expanding versatility and will also be included in her LP ‘Grow to Glow’ which will be released in the summer 2018.
‘Good Life’ is now available on all major digital/streaming platforms, including iTunes
