Following the success of her debut EP ‘Wanderlust’, alt-pop singer Bryony Williams has returned with her brand new second EP ‘Conscious’, out today. Hotly tipped as one to watch for 2018, Bryony has also released an art-house music video, ‘Narrative Form’, to accompany the EP.

‘Narrative Form’ follows a similar format as ‘Stargaze’ (track from her previous EP), with a non-conventional song structure. Inspired by the film, Double Indemnity, the female character and her notion of self-worth and value through the male gaze, sets the tone for ‘Narrative Form’, portraying a similar depth as this classic film-noir.

“It’s a song that self-analyses the combination of love and loneliness and the emotional turmoil you go through to try to understand the grey areas in life. While the psychoanalytical narrative runs deeper through the track, it becomes harder for me to even explain.”

Powerful in its vulnerability, ‘Conscious’ showcases Bryony’s knack for writing frank and ambitious indie-pop songs infused with her dreamy and hypnotic vocals.

Citing Wolf Alice, Marika Hackman and Kathleen Hanna as her influences, her brand of music combines gentle acoustic and heavy electric guitar, synths, and electronic elements, clashing together to create her distinctive sound.

21-year-old Bryony has supported the likes of Isaac GracieMellow GangHazel English and Stevie Parker. 2018 sees her progress into a confident and brave solo artist making music that represents her more than ever before – “I’m constantly listening to music which can either be a mass pool full of women musicians (Chastity Belt, Jen Cloher, Courtney Barnett, PJ Harvey and Kim Gordon) or rummaging through my dad’s record collection and stumbling upon The Specials, The Cure, Rolling Stones – and I hope comes through in my music.”

As well as music, Bryony is the founder the female collective ‘GRRRL GROANNN!!!‘ inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement, which explains her main drive in music: “to make audiences think twice about the female artists they’re listening to.”

Drawing from her combined influences, Bryony thrives on being able to experiment with her music and the characters, concepts and emotions she’s able to portray with each release. She has created her own brand of glittering and dreamy yet gritty alt-pop.
