INTERVIEW: Iraqi-Syrian artist Wafia

Hi Wafia, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Really good thank you! How are you?

Can you talk to us more about your latest collaboration “Better Not”?

It’s a song I did with the guys from Louis The Child. It was so much fun creating it with them and all come together so quickly.

Did any event in particular inspired you / Louis the Child to write this song?

I wanted to write a song in a perspective I hadn’t before whether it be a song to myself or to one of my friends about keeping a good love.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

So much fun! The opening shot took 4 hours of laying in direct sunlight which was so intense but the final product was sooooo worth it.

How was the recording and writing process?

Really great, the guys are super easy to work with and made it a really fun session.

What role does coming from Australia play in your writing?

It’s a great home base, when I write from home it’s definitely a lot more relaxed and above all, it’s the best place to reset.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Amazingly! I’m literally in the studio right now cutting vocals to the next single.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Eeeee, I don’t want to say but it’s definitely about dancing.

Any plans to hit the road?

Always!

What else is happening next in WAFIA’s world?

Lotsa new music!
