OTONANA TRIO hails from Tokyo, Japan but they love playing the U.S., touring stateside at least twice a year. Fans await their return to sing, dance and wave flags in celebration of ‘ramen wars’ and buying the band beers on command. Otonana’s new EP Jump remixes five of their concert favorites for a new take on their “party punk funk” songs from previous albums.
Grammy-winning producer Robert Cutarella (Eric Clapton, Sting, Cyndi Lauper) brings a modish retro treatment to the tracks, tapping Danceteria + Hacienda Club eras paired with bites of lead singer Kentaro Saito’s crazy-fun vocals and lyrics and signature bass riffs from Kazuhisa Maesawa. “We love having people dance at our shows, so we hope this will keep everyone dancing!” says Kentaro.
Jump: The Remixes releases June 15, 2018 on Mesa Blue Moon Recordings, via Ingrooves / Univeral Music.
