Hot Sauce Pony tease first fruit of Steve Albini sessions

HOT SAUCE PONY tease the arrival of their forthcoming eponymous debut album with the brutally beautiful single ‘Burnt Ends’, on Brixton Hillbiilly on June 22. Listen here

The track is a collision of the crushing and the delicate, the relentless and the reflective, detailing the moment when a seemingly never-ending cycle of hedonism comes suddenly crashing down to earth.

The entire album was recorded and engineered by Steve Albini (Pixies, Nirvana, PJ Harvey) at his Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, with his trademark sound very much apparent.  It follows the success of their controversial debut HSP single ‘Fenced In’, a raucous and heartfelt protest against gentrification and social apartheid.

The music is HSP’s own self-styled genre of ‘avant hard’, with echoes of hardcore, grunge and punk but given an un self-consciously clever twist and topped off with the exquisite, sultry vocals of Caroline Gilchrist.  Imagine, perhaps, Deerhunter and Mudhoney facing off while Marianne Faithful takes the mic.

Live dates:
13th June New Cross Inn, New Cross, LONDON
23rd June Club 85, HITCHIN
30th June Betsy Trotswood, LONDON
16th August – HY-Brazil, BRISTOL
