NO SWOON has return with the release of their new single “Gold He Said.” Listen here

Ethereal vocals, blaring Shoegaze guitars mixed with swirling synth atmospheres, and propulsive rock and roll drumming is No Swoon. Comprised of Tasha Abbott, Zack Nestel-Patt, and Ricky Petraglia, No Swoon is releasing their debut EP. Their sound is underlined by an attention to detail and an ear for production. They are hard to pin down as just Shoegaze, just Dream-pop, or just 80s influenced New Wave, but rather exist somewhere in between all of those.

The members of No Swoon first met playing very different music, working on acoustic folk songs Tasha wrote and released in 2012. However, the music never felt right. While taking a break from NYC, Tasha went back to her roots near LA, re-finding the music she grew up with: This Mortal Coil, Love and Rockets, Soft Cell, Joy Division etc. She says, “Ever since I was around 5, my mom would put me in the car and we would start driving. Being an 80s Goth she would put on Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, New Order; that was our safe space, driving in the car with music blasting.”

In California, Tasha bought an electric guitar and a bunch of pedals and began exploring. At the same time in NYC, Zack bought an analog synthesizer and did a deep dive into learning synthesis. In his trip to the west coast in 2016 Zack and Tasha started writing music that would eventually find its way onto No Swoon’s debut EP. Back in NYC, the sound came together when they reunited with Ricky and started playing together as a trio.
