INTERVIEW: Clayton Morgan

How would you classify your music?

I would classify my music as R&B with some jazz flare here and there.

Who are some of your top 5 musicalth influences?

My top 5 influences are Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and Madonna.

What do you want fans to take from your music?

I hope it makes them feel good. That’s what I want them to take from my music. The great thing about music is the feeling you get from it.

How’s the music scene in your locale?

The music scene is booming in Dallas, Texas. There is always something going on here.

What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?

I’ve seen Janet Jackson in concert a few times. She’s a great entertainer! I can’t wait to get the live performance experience. I’m looking forward to it!

Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

I enjoy all the music I’ve recorded. My latest single is ‘Taste For Love’. This song was a favorite during the recording process. It was the flow and groove of the song that stuck with me.

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?

I have learned to be more patient over the last year. It’s important for me to take my time and not rush to get things done when additional time is required. I’m also learning to trust my first mind when making decisions as well.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

I would love to meet Janet Jackson and work with her. I’ve admired her career for a long time. As a fan, I can appreciate that she remained true to her artistry over the years no matter what naysayers thought.

What’s next for you?

Taste For Love will be released on June 29th. The official music video should be coming out soon. I’m looking forward to some live performances and whatever else that comes my way.
