VALLEY QUEEN New Single “Boiling Water” From LA Band’s Debut Album

Valley Queen just released the third single, “Boiling Water,” from their debut full-length album Supergiant, out July 13 on Roll Call Records. Regarding the track, frontwoman Natalie Carol tells Paste Magazine, “The lyrics actually came from a book by Bhante Henopola Gunaratana on mindfulness. Shawn got the idea of the refrain of ‘your mind is on fire/it’s like boiling water/give it all to me and it’s gone’ idea from that text a long time ago and we re-approached the song when I just went in and read the symptoms of your mind being like boiling water. The song expresses that state of mind and relating to that sensation.” Hear “Boiling Water” HERE.

The album’s title track “Supergiant” premiered on NPR’s All Songs Considered earlier this month with Bob Boilen hailing, “Singer Natalie Carol possesses a stunning voice that can rattle the walls and stir the soul.” The band previously performed on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk in support of their debut EP. Watch the session HERE to get a peak at the power and passion that Valley Queen bring live, and see them this summer when they hit the road again. See all dates below, including their recently added support slot for SoCal punk legends Social Distortion.

Stereogum premiered earlier song “Chasing The Muse,” describing it as fulfilling a “fantasy I didn’t know I had: Florence Welch fronting a retro rock band with traces of Jefferson Airplane, Fleetwood Mac, and the Pretenders. Welch doesn’t actually front the LA combo, but lead singer Natalie Carol exudes a similar powerhouse intensity.”
