Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Too Much Sauce”?
The single ‘Too Much Sauce’ is a party track that’s based around having confidence, style and not a care in the world. I recorded it with my boys Rich Love when we was just in the studio vibing to some beats and we knew it would be a vibe.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Not really, it just came from my personality. The chorus alone is basically just telling you what I really feel.
How was the recording and writing process?
The process was lit. Me and Rich Love we just sipping on some liquor and listening to music and some beats, and then when we came across the beat for ‘Too Much Sauce’ instantly we knew that beat was the one. So we had it on a loop and was just rapping random stuff and then I came up the chorus, then we just ran through the whole track in about an hour.
What role does Hackney play in your writing?
It plays a big role because most topics I talk about are from actual things I’ve experienced being from Hackney, and also some slang terms I use.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?
Sometimes, only because it depends on the direction of the project so certain things I tend to do different.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yeah, I have much more stuff to release and I’m also still working on more music so be on the look-out.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
All I can say for now is ‘Drop’ and ‘007’, keep your eyes peeled.
Any plans to hit the road?
Soon enough, just sorting a few things out. So far I’ve had a few shows, SXSW, iLuvLive and the Juice show at Relentless for J-Fresh’s album.
What else is happening next in Malv’s world?
Just more fun, more music, more shows and more Malv!
