KING IN THE WILDERNESS – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK is a 2018 documentary release from HBO, soundtrack live as of May 13, 2018. The album features an original score by Saul Simon MacWilliams (composer of Chasing Coral (Netflix), Gleason (Amazon),  Becoming Warren Buffett (HBO), Jim The James Foley Story (HBO)).  King in the Wilderness – an HBO Original Documentary – launched this year to critical acclaim, portraying the years following up to the assassination of MLK, an integral moment of history rarely seen.

Saul Simon MacWilliams’ score backdrops King in the Wilderness with haunting sweeping sound textures, recorded primarily in Los Angeles. The dreamlike and washy soundscape accompanies scenes of interviewees reminiscing on their personal experiences with Martin Luther King Jr. Humbling string arrangements are integral to the film’s soundtrack as well as an assortment of acoustic guitars and flutes. This modern soundtrack helps set King in the Wilderness aside from other Civil War documentaries, helping viewers see Martin Luther King Jr. from a seldom seen lense (the three years following MLK’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech).
