INTERVIEW: Acaddamy & Double Agent

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

DA – Thanks guys! I’ve been great, keeping busy on the music side of things and trying to keep warm in the nation’s capital.

A – I’m great – thanks for having me!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Hearts On Fire”?

DA- Hearts on Fire was brought to life by the amazing singer Quails. She blew us away with this amazing hook idea and we knew we had to make it a big one. Some lush pianos and a dope bassline later and we have what you hear today.

A – As Double Agent said we were blown away with the vocals that Quails had sent us so we knew we had to make it something special. A few piano chords a sick bass line and boom! ‘hearts on fire’ was born

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

DA – No particular event for me, but everyone loves a good love song haha.

A – I was presented with an the opportunity to work with some really awesome people so I thought I’d take it on.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

DA – No plans at the moment, but who knows. I think the promo/teaser video on Be Rich Records’ facebook page hit the nail on the head though!

A – No plans for a video as of yet, but we’ve got a few teaser vids up on our socials that are pretty dope!

How was the recording and writing process?

DA – It was great. Acaddamy and I were on the same page, so it was so easy to bounce ideas back and forth and smash it out.

A – The tracked started out as a remix I was working on with Quails. I ended up getting Double Agent involved with it and after a bit of back and forth it evolved into what it is today.

What role does Australia play in your music?

DA – It plays a huge role for me, there’s so many talented locals it’s hard not to be inspired and influenced by those around you. I think the Australian music scene draws so much inspiration from so many different scenes around the world so it’s an amazing melting pot of sounds.

A – I think we’ve got a great community of Artists here in Aus who all support each other and who are super talented. It’s easy to be inspired when you’re surrounded by a great bunch of people.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than in your own?

DA – I think so, it’s so great to bounce ideas off each other, so many collaborations I don’t think I would have been able to come up with on my own.

A – In a way yes. It’s nice having someone who you can share ideas with, it makes the writing process that little bit easier, but at the same time the technical aspect of it doesn’t change a whole lot.

With the success you have archive – do you tend to get much nervous while working on any new material?

DA – Of course, but I’ve felt this even from the beginning. It’s so exciting to build and grow so I always want to keep that momentum up.

A – On the evening of every release there are always nervs, just because you never know how the track will be received. I think I could write 100 tracks and still feel the same way!

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

DA – Absolutely! My new solo single is around the corner and a few heavier EPs for the bassheads are being wrapped as we speak.

A – Of course! I’ve got a new track dropping real soon. I don’t know how much I can say on it but keep your eyes peeled on my socials. Apart from that I’m just in the studio trying to get a bunch of new bits finished up.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

DA – I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but very soon I promise.

A – Again – not sure how much I cant reveal about that one just yet but its coming VERY soon.

Any plans to hit the road?

DA – I’ll definitely be doing some travelling around Australia’s East coast in the coming months, my facebook page is the best place to keep up with things!

A – I’m hitting the road on the 16th of june, doing a few club shows around Aus

What else is happening next in Accadamy & Double Agent’s world?

DA – Just more tunes, more travelling and we’ll see what happens next!

A – Hopefully a bunch more touring both here in Aus and overseas and keeping busy working on new tunes.
