New York City three – piece, Beechwood are set to release a new single on Alive Naturalsound Records on the 8th of June 2018.
‘Bigot In My Bedroom’, recorded over the last few months, sees the band line up of Sid Simons (vocals / bass), Isa Tineo (drums/ vocals) and Gordon Lawrence (guitar/ vocals) share their political frustrations and despair at the current state of affairs in their homeland and beyond.
The band explain: “Though we don’t consider ourselves to be a political band, it’s impossible these days to avoid the constant stream of the 24-hour bullshit media news cycle. This comes in many forms, and it is therefore a part of our everyday life – advertisements of crooked, smiling politicians, waving their arms in the air and coming at you from every direction.”
A future perfect glam stomper that recalls Marc Bolan at his pop peak, ‘Bigot In My Bedroom’ is first indication of what to expect from Beechwood’s forthcoming album ‘Inside The Flesh Hotel’ which is due for release on Alive Naturalsound Records in August.
The follow up to the recent and acclaimed ‘Songs From the Land of Nod’ long player the new album features twelve tracks that can sometimes veer from two-minute pop perfection to the sound of a band deep in a drug-induced nightmare psychoses. Beechwood’s place in today’s NYC music scene is unparalleled in its straightforward ability to reflect the raw ambition of three young individuals whose checkered pasts have left them with absolutely nothing to lose.
“They run a pretty wide gamut of scuzz from garage to glam to punk to indie that’s not that easy to date.” – STEREOGUM
A truly exciting live prospect, Beechwood support US post punk pioneers Bush Tetras in Toronto, before heading to Europe to play a handful shows which includes a London date at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston on the 7th of June.
