Itay Aviv: HI! Thanks for having us. We are great! Busy working on our Tel Aviv launch show next month.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Last Night”?
IA: ‘Last Night’ is basically a farewell song. I lost a good friend of mine to cancer last year and this song was my way of coping with it. It talks about that moment you realize there’s no way back and trying to embrace the positive memories of this person.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
IA: As I said before, Rafi, a dear friend of mine who fought cancer for a long time died. The song pretty much wrote itself the day after he passed away.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
IA: You can find the “Last Night” music video on our Facebook/Youtube channel. We wrote the script in Rafi’s memory with the help of some talented friends.
The single comes off your upcoming EP Au Revoir – what’s the story behind the title?
IA: We wrote Au Revoir while I was coping with the loss of two people that were very close to me. The songs, that came from the bottom of our hearts, gave AuRevoir its name.
How was the recording and writing process?
IA: We had so much fun! we worked with so many gifted people that helped us shape the sound of our debut E.P. into something we are very proud of.
What role does Tel Aviv play in your music?
IA: We all live in small, quiet towns around Tel Aviv. Growing up in these areas gave us the option of creating music without all the noise and distractions you might experience while living the ‘city life’.
What aspect of old and new punk music did you get to explore on this record?
IA: Our E.P. draws influence from many eras of punk and alternative music. You can hear a lot of fast parts related to more ‘old school’ kind of punk, and also softer ballads that fits modern alternative music.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
IA: I think the inspiration kind of found us back then. Most of the lyrics were written so quickly I can’t even recall writing them. At the time I was so emotionally charged, it almost felt like the words burst onto the page
Any plans to hit the road?
IA: Absolutely! We will be touring the UK this summer, and hopefully Europe and the U.S. very soon!
What else is happening next in Bare Dreams’ world?
IA: Right now we are working on our E.P. launch show in Tel Aviv (June 2nd). We are planning to record new materials in the next few months, so make sure to stay updated!
