Thanks for having us, we’ve been great, Thanks for asking.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Black Angel”?
Black Angel is the first single from our upcoming record GET THIS! It was written over a matter of minutes in a rehearsal room in Brooklyn and is literally the sound of our band forming.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Black Angel was one of the first songs written for the album, maybe even the first. It just kind of happened very quickly with all of us feeding off each other and kind of marking our territory. Lyrically for me it was one of the first times I could express my point of view in a song, it was very cathartic.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes, we have a video in the works.
How was the recording and writing process?
It came about very quickly, both the writing and the recording process for this track. It kinda fell from the sky. Like the black angel.
What role does NYC play in your writing?
For me, being here in New York is what lead to me starting this band. All of a sudden I realized I had something to say and I had to do it quick. There is a whole legacy here of music that really means something and feeding off that history is part of what inspires me, personally.
Do you still drink some of that magic water in Australia?
What do you mean? The water in Brooklyn is probably better in terms of purity than the water where I’m from. But yes, of course I drink the magic water!!! It’s what keeps me so hip.
How’s your new album coming along?
The new album is finished and the next one is following very close behind it!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Yes the record is called GET THIS! and it’s coming out mid July. It’s semi-subliminal.
Any plans to hit the road?
I would love to hit the road, there’ll be a little east coast string of shows hopefully soon.
What else is happening next in Big Spirit’s world?
Currently we’re focusing on playing some great shows and finishing off some new material to begin recording ASAP. We’ll be pumped to have something out as a reference point for people, as to what we’re about and to be able to share our thing with people.
