Des Rocs (1/2 of Secret Weapons) Returns with New Anthemic Single – “Used To The Darkness” Out Now

Des Rocs is back with a brand new single entitled “Used To The Darkness” and there’s no doubt he’s got his eyes on the prize. The multi-faceted artist, born Daniel Rocco and known as one half of Secret Weapons, is on a mission to reclaim rock music. After partnering with Live Nation’s Ones To Watch to reveal the track just last week, it’s clear he’s paving the path for a full on rock revival. OTW raved about Rocco’s solo effort, commending him for “bringing the genre back with a freshness and modernity that’s a breath of fresh air for those who miss the days of blaring guitar solos and fuzzed out “We Will Rock You”-type anthems.” The track additionally landed on the #1 spot on Spotify’s official New Noise playlist this past Friday. Stream “Used To The Darkness” now, here: https://spoti.fi/2Kfp2Xs.

When asked about the single, Rocco said: “‘Used To The Darkness‘ is a song I’ve been wanting to write for a long time about the way that we adjust to some of the worst imaginable situations in the world, and how unimaginable misery can become a baseline. It’s about how we get through those situations and the quiet thoughts you have along the way when your all alone. It’s a song we need more than ever with everything going on in the world.”

Des Rocs’ debut single “HVY MTL DRMR” made waves at it’s launch, reaching almost 50,000 plays on Spotify and receiving positive reviews from the likes of Baeble and Clash. Rocco later unleashed his arena-ready performance to a packed house at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NYC as direct support for Vlad Holiday of Born Cages, proving his show lives up to the hype. Rocco has previously performed with some of the top players in the game including Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Bleachers, Lukas Graham, Bebe Rhexa, Nate Ruess, All American Rejects, Atlas Genius, and Phoebe Ryan as well as festivals such as Lollapalooza, Firefly, BottleRock and Bumbershoot to name a few. As no stranger to the stage and paying homage to icons Elvis Presley and Freddie Mercury, this man demands your attention regardless of stage and venue size. Des Rocs is set to return to Elsewhere for his headlining show on June 18th. More dates are TBA.

Rock is a dirty word in 2018. It used to represent singular artists whose charisma and bravado commanded ownership of a stage. Musicians like Freddie Mercury, Elvis, or Roy Orbison would strike audiences with the intoxication of their sheer presence. Today’s version of stars are more likely to strike them with inflatable dinosaurs or confetti cannons. We need to be reminded what it means to truly experience rock ‘n’ roll, not just consume it. We need to reclaim the ineffable feeling of pulse-pounding, sweat-pouring, honest-to-greatness rock music.

We need Des Rocs.
