The Independent Music Awards is a world-renowned community of innovative artists and engaged fans that put artistry, individuality, and the overall pursuit of excellence at the forefront of what they do. Each year, the IMAs honor the most exceptional music, video, concert photography and designs by established and emerging talent in different categories.
Artists are nominated by a body of iconic musicians and artists, fans, press, talent buyers, and other prominent member of the music scene through North and South America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.
Each year, the ceremony is held in New York City’s iconic Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts, giving out awards in a total of 96 different categories covering best album, EP, song, video, producer, photographer, and design.
It is a huge honor to be nominated for such a prestigious and competitive award, but Joan Torres’s All Is Fused managed to earn three separate nominations: their album “Of The Musical” for best Funk/Fusion/Jam and best Jazz album, and their track “Demiurge” earned them a nomination for best music producer in the jazz category.
Joan Torres’s All Is Fused – Of the Musical
After moving to San Francisco, California and sharing the stage with names such as Sandor Moss, Eduardo Corzo, Julius Melendez, and Calvin Keys, Torres started planning for the third All Is Fused album. They made their album debut on June 24, 2016 at The Center in San Francisco, California before recording at the historic and influential Different Fur Studios in San Francisco later that same week., mixed and mastered by Grammy winner Dave Darlington. The album also features liner notes by Julius Meléndez, a Nuyorican (born in New York from Puerto Rican parents) trumpet player who is well known for playing with the one and only Santana as well as Latin legend Tito Puente.
