Matilda Shares New Single “Queen” & Announces Drifting By EP

Rising electro-pop singer Matilda has announced the release of her new single “Queen”, from her upcoming EP Drifting By, due out in May. The track is a downtempo indie-pop tune that is both haunting and sensual, yet rhythmic and captivating, with Matilda’s beautiful vocals layering in melodic harmonies that draw in the listener immediately.

“This song is about being praised in a relationship,” says Matilda. “I was in a situation where my partner had more feelings than I did, and it felt so good hearing it, but maybe I didn’t think I deserved it which is why the track has a darker edge to the vibe.”

The Swedish singer decided to make the move to the states at age 19, when she applied and was accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. There, she studied for two years before dropping everything and making the life-changing decision to come to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. “[Moving to LA] has been the biggest development and I’ve found myself creatively, found my voice and my image as an artist,” says Matilda.

Artistically, Matilda draws inspiration from artists like Adele and Tove Lo, not only for their unique sounds and styles but for their ability to captivate an audience and be unapologetically themselves, which is exactly the kind of artist Matilda strives to be. Her new EP certainly is a great example of this quality, showcasing her incredible vocals and knack for songwriting that is meaningful and real, yet relatable and accessible. Matilda will be one to watch in 2018!
