INTERVIEW: Yaa Yaa

How would you classify your music? 

My music is a mix of Highlife| Afro-Pop| Soul.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences? 

Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Brandy, Asa, Sade.

What do you want fans to take from your music? 

Love, Peace and Harmony and always a smile on there faces with believing in the good and god – because god is good.

How’s the music scene in your locale? 

People in music and in ghana is fool with very talented young and old traditional and different styles “genre” there are not to much clubs and festivals to play but we got a industry and awards running. It could be better in Ghana.

What is the best concert you have been to? 

That was a show with ASA in germany at the kesselhaus in berlin 2015.

What do you like most about playing live? 

To be on stage and in the spot of a headlight, grabbing the audience after the first cord of playing my guitar – get in touch with the soul and the heart of the people and to let them really feel what I am singing about in my lyrics.

Is there a song on your latest releases here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

Yes that is the song called LIFE we produced and released the video aswell couple of days ago. The song is about LIFE and to get to see and recognise all different aspects in the time we are here on this planet – its about good and bad – rich and poor – and at the end of the song – EVERTHING IS GONNA BE ALRIGHT – the hook line is recorded with 4 kids from the street in Accra – I love kids and to work with them.

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year? 

Well – I burst into the music scene after winning the 4th edition of “Stars of the Future” music reality show in 2009 in Ghana. After that I releasing great music, played live performances and working in marketing at a event agency with some of the big corporate brands in Ghana. With a bachelor degree in Theatre arts with Music i gone ahead to partake in musical theatre performances in Africa. I won some awards and nominations at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and I moving forward with promoting my brand and here I am doin good and always believing in my currier and what I am doin. it isn’t always easy and the way I gone sofar was a very hard one till here and where I am standing now.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

Alicia Keys.

What’s next for you? 

Currently working on music and lyrics to my debuet album tba for release in 2019 and aswell focusing on my musical theatre performance. �
