The Magic Es release anthemic new single/video

The Magic Es return today with their anthemic new single and video Nothing In Your Way. The track is out now on Spotify and Apple Music via Oh Mercy! Records, and the first in a run of new singles for 2018. Hot on the heels of the trio’s debut album It Goes On last year, Nothing In Your Way adds a slow burning intensity to their guitar-propelled indie-rock songwriting.

“It was written for a friend who was going through some tough times – it was the easiest way I could say “I’m here for you and so are all your mates…we’ll help you get through this”, explains frontman Pete Thompson. “I recorded it as a demo about 7 or 8 years ago, and last year I re-discovered the original recording; I started jamming the riff during rehearsals and pretty quickly we’d fashioned it into a new Magic Es song. We thought it would be make a good ‘comeback’ single after the album last year.”

Since forming in 2014, The Magic Es have been busy. All lifelong musicians with world tours, top 40 singles and a wealth of musical experience under their belts, the boys came together after a chance meeting at a wedding led to them finding common ground in the simple pleasures of classic records. Fittingly for a band steeped in 60’s pop and classic rock, they’ve adopted a similar work ethic to their musical heroes – releasing a string of singles and a debut album in the last two years, and picking up press acclaim from Paste Magazine, XS Noize, Songwriting Magazine, BBC Radio and many more in the process.

The band are on tour in the UK May and June, including dates in London, Newcastle and Leicester – for more info, head to wearemagic.co.uk
