INTERVIEW: Violet Days

Hi Lina, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello! I’ve been good, working on some upcoming music.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single, “Somber”?

It’s the “ballad” of the EP, I would say. It’s a song about meeting someone that you know is right for you but you can’t be with them because the timing is wrong.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

At the time we wrote this song, we were sitting down with morgxn, talking about life in general, and this concept just came to us. So I think we drew inspiration from events coming from both of our lives.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

We had a clear vision of making the cover art for the song come to life – that’s also the idea for the whole EP. In the cover art, you see two lead characters telling the story, and in the videos, they’ll be turned into real life events. The acoustic video is a little nod to the official video, too, trying to keep some of the concept elements like the checkered floor, etc.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you do an acoustic rendition to the point you get to reinvent the entire song?

We try to make something different out of it each time and use the opportunity to give the song a new life and a different vibe.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was fun, very relaxed. It was one of those days when you feel like the song writes itself almost.

What role does Sweden play in your music?

I think Sweden stands for our melancholy and darkness haha. Being in Sweden writing music is great, though. It has a lot of talented people to work with and a history that’s very inspiring.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?

Absolutely! “Somber” was the smooth start of a string of releases to come.

There’s an EP coming this summer, so I’m very excited for that.

Is there a tentative release date or a title in mind?

Yes, the next single will be out May 4th! It’s called “Just a Little.”
