Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi guys, we’ve been great thanks!!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Dreams”?
Dreams is a mix of a lot of things we love. Great lyrics, big choruses, melody and a mix between melancholy and optimism. We believe in this song.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
The bigger influence is certainly our life. We’re from a small village in Switzerland but this doesn’t mean we can’t dream big. You got a dream, you got to do whatever it takes to protect it and make it real. “Dreams don’t come crushing down and we are not scared” are some of the key lyrics that really reflects our attitude.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
We were looking for epic locations and we chose Iceland. It was awesome, realty overtook expectations. We then found out that some of Game Of Thrones scenes were shot in the same locations we were at.
Out there you can feel the magic of the nature…in 5min you go from a black beach, to the desert and then glacier…we even got the chance to spot some northern lights! An amazing experience!
To be honest, weather conditions were extreme…it was freaking cold, but the crew and Juste, the model, did an amazing job. They are real vikings! (laugh)
How was the recording and writing process?
Last summer we went to California and there we start to feel the “Dreams”* vibe.
Normally we used to produce music by ourselves, but not this time.
We recorded the instrumental part and vocals in Denmark with Thomas Stengaard, great producer. It’s nice to work close with someone capable like him, certain decisions are easier and faster.
When we’re just the two of us, it’s not always easy to get to the right choice…we’re brothers and everyone has his own idea. So having a producer like Thomas who we can trust and understood what we wanted was fantastic.
What was it like to work with Thomas Stengaard, Michael Ilbert and Randy Merrill?
How did those relationships develop?
An easy answer… we had a blast! They are big professionals and it has been a great opportunity to learn many things.
The fact that they like the song, it makes us proud.
We you work with such a experienced and talented guys, everything seems easier.
We were in contact with Michael since a couple of years. Then everything happened thanks to Thomas: he had already worked with Michael in the past so he contacted him. Michael liked the song and he agreed on working with us, we then asked him with whom he would master the song… He suggested Randy.
The music business is a small world, with 2 or 3 connections you can get in touch with everybody. Of course the music has to be good.
How much did they get to influence the album?
