Matthew Chaim’s take on R&B-infused Pop is an appetizing example of how real and vulnerable themes can melt together with sonically addictive hooks. Having only released a handful of songs so far, Matthew Chaim has already garnered over 2.5 million streams online. His debut single, the most addictively ambient “Vanilla Ways,” immediately met online buzz and hit #5 on the Spotify Viral Charts. Listen here
After spending a year building out a catalogue of unreleased music with producers Noah Barer and Austin Tecks, Matthew is back with his latest track release CRASH, slated for April 20th 2018. The improbable but compelling missing link between John Mayer and Drake, Matthew’s sound has been forged through a number of eclectic influences: from his parents’ favorites in Marvin Gaye and Blood, Sweat and Tears, to today’s hip-hop and R&B heavyweights like Kid Cudi and Frank Ocean.
“Writing Crash was an absolute tipping point for me. I wrote it during a very turbulent time in my life. My girlfriend was going through some extremely scary health problems, and we were navigating very surreal and daunting waters. The “Crash” writing sessions acted as an outlet for me to dump all of these heavy feelings living inside me at the time. This song taught me just how therapeutic songwriting can be, and my relationship with music reached much
greater depths because of it. P.S. My girlfriend has recovered and is now super healthy and thriving. :)”
