Toronto based Indie pop trio Nikki’s Wives has released their newest video “Get Paid” exclusively via Celeb Mix. Contrary to the fun-loving, carefree track this music video tackles a much more serious subject, gun violence. Gun violence is a very close to home issue for the band as they continuously tour high schools across the United States.
The band is donating all proceeds from the “Get Paid” video to the National Compassion Fund. The National Compassion Fund is a charity that donates all funds received straight to the survivors of these tragedies.
With a triumphant track and a catchy chorus, “Get Paid” shows the group’s unique and effortless musical style. This laid-back anthem is the groups’ first single release of 2018.
Mesmerizing drum beats combined with gospel-influenced background vocals lead the song’s refrain. Nikki’s Wives vocalist truly shines through in this track. On first listen it sounds as if she is boasting about their lavish lifestyle, but after a deeper listen one realizes that “Get Paid” is an anthem for youth living the lifestyle of their dreams with limited means.
