Hi Beth, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I have been great thanks! I am so excited to be releasing new music, 2018 has been awesome so far!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Clone”?
Clone is a sassy pop song with dancey vibes. its about empowerment and making light of a rubbish situation.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
I was in the studio, and it hadn’t been a great day, i just needed to vent and my most productive way of doing that is through songwriting. It started with a situation personal to me that had frustrated me but id never really discussed, then it developed into something that i think lots of people can relate to in their own way.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
There is indeed a video and i am so excited about it. I have wanted to work with this particular videographer for years and finally got to, and it was everything i hoped. Ollie Rillands is a genius
How was the recording and writing process?
The process was great! the song came together really quickly. it had the right amount of sass and fun to it and was also therapeutic.
What role does Newcastle play in your writing?
Newcastle is my home and I love it but it does not play a huge part in my writing. I have hundreds of recordings on my phone of some ideas that have came to me at random, i write anywhere and everywhere and am inspired when travelling and breaking out of my comfort zone.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
You can definitely expect new material.
I’ve been in the studio working on new music and have my next single ready to go.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
My next single doesn’t actually yet have a name. ‘On the money’ is a working title but will 99% be changed.
Any plans to hit the road?
I will be hitting the road later this year with my band which i am super excited about!
What else is happening next in Beth Macari’s world?
My world is full of music right now. Writing, collaberating, touring! Im really excited for what 2018 has to come.
