INTERVIEW: Order of the Mess

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We are grand! Working on our album release. And we can’t wait to start gigging again in May.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Si-B”?

SI-B is our first official single and one of our favourite track of the Album. We decided to use it as a single as it probably represents the “Order of the Mess” song writing signature way, an A-B method that we discovered writing our first songs together. It wasn’t done on purpose and we did love this genuine fact. Then the lyric is short and goes straight to the point.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Not really. Probably it was the music itself.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

We had great fun. We worked hard with the brilliant Ikigai Media for 10 hours in a beautiful West Cork mansion to make something cool. Making videos is one of our favourite thing even if it’s not easy at all, (in particular in the “No Budget age”) and the preparation behind the scene is always very intense. But it was worth it.

How was the recording and writing process?

The lyric of Si-B was written in the same moment we were writing the music and we decided to be very short going straight to the point. The lyric talks about how important is to leave what is safe (including our fears, wounds from the past, good or bad habits etc) in order to be properly happy and free.

We had the pleasure of recording it at the historical Westland studios in Dublin together with the other songs on the album. The recording process was very fast and tough, we actually completed the album in 6 days and we still don’t realize how we made it!

What role did Dublin and Cork play on the writing of both this new song and record?

Cork has been our home for almost a decade. It’s a city that played (and still play) the most important role for our music. The Cork music scene is growing very fast and the amount of good bands, promoters and people involved in the music scene is overwhelming. We both moved from Italy to Ireland for different reasons and we could expect everything but writing an Album and touring around this beautiful island. Dublin is for sure one of the best locations to play and music scene is huge and full of amazing bands, but Cork has for sure the main role in the “Mess World”.

Tell us more about the new album. Any tentative release date or title in mind?

The Album is a 12 track LP and it will be release on June 16th. The Title is still a “secret”! I can say only it will be something related to our gratitude to life and to the music. All the lyrics of the album talk about different stories related to people we met and experiences we both had in our life, all supported by heavy riffs and thunderous drums skin work. We cannot wait to share it with you. Life is to Love, Life is to Rock, Rock is to Love.

Any plans to hit the road?

We will hit the road in Ireland from May 4th playing our first headline show at the amazing Chasing Bull, Bundoran, Co, Donegal, then following Cork, Waterford, Sea Session Festival, Townlands Carnival, Italian Fusion Festival, Independence Festival and many more.

What else is happening next in Order Of The Mess’ world?

Before the album we’ll release 2 new singles and videos and we are planning to invade the UK and the rest of Europe from the autumn onwards. And of course, keep writing new music!
