“Shooting Star” ft. Demari Thompson (4K) by David Shane, is the new video/single in his catalog which includes all kinds of work ranging from his first release when he was only 13, to having just finished recording with Los Angeles music producer/engineer Hagay Mizrahi of Gemini Musiq & Taylor Sparks, whose credits include Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Snoop Dogg, and Post Malone. The cross-platform artists last release “Broken Alive” increased his standing in the music industry. The Arizona Native has also been busy writing songs for many well-known publishing companies.
David Shane is on his way up and moving fast but it has come with hard work and surrounding himself with the right artists and industry people, which doesn’t take long to figure out once you hear any of his music, all of which stands at the top of the pop shelf. “Shooting Star” gets all the credit for moving him forward but that’s just one way of looking at it. This is a light and fun-loving track with a few energetic moments weaved through it for the right tempo to chill to or get moving to, whichever mood it suits all. And the video does the proper business in bringing the song to life for all it’s worth.
The lyrics can also be found in the lyric video for this single, but they aren’t hard to make out or anything. It’s just another way to access the track and get all-the more out of it. The song is about knowing which way you’re headed together in life and love, even if coming from two worlds apart. You can call it hip hop, but it’s a blend of pop and soul that doesn’t get into any of the negative street trappings of hip hop. There’s more to it than that, like Shane’s world class songwriting chops, and his ability to play all his own instruments whenever required.
The only part of the song that takes it into hip hop territory is-actually Demari’s rap, but even that is done so well it doesn’t take the song over and dominate it. This is done with the utmost care and integrity, it’s no surprise this isn’t David Shane’s first time around the block. Being around since 13 years of age has its advantages, and he’s a very mature artist. The song is second to none in every way, so getting heard far and wide isn’t going to be a big hurdle for it. This single/video is already getting heard around the globe. The song is available at iTunes and the video can be seen online. Check out his website for more info.
When you get to the video the song even grows up another peg on the shelf, so to speak, because it brings out the best a video can with the interaction between David Shane and Demari Thompson (4k). They also make it fun with a young executive played by a kid, ordering them around as they land on the tarmac before taking off in the kid’s wheels and leaving him at the air strip. And the rest is absolute gravy with both Shane and Thompson having a good time as the song carries on about which way to go. Top marks go to all involved, including the video editors on this killer pop single.
