AlunaGeorge Features On Shakka’s “Man Down.” Confirm New Music Coming Later This Year

Today sees the release of the official video for “Man Down” from UK singer, songwriter, producer Shakka, featuring AlunaGeorge and collaborative production from Jae5 (J Hus). Directed by KC Locke and filmed in Los Angeles, the visual features Shakka and Aluna Francis who lends her distinctive vocals to the track, which has already racked up over 7 million streams since its release.

AlunaGeorge (singer-songwriter Aluna Francis, producer George Reid), the London duo is currently working on new music set for release later this year.

AlunaGeorge first emerged back in 2012 with their breakthrough single “You Know You Like It,” and was later shortlisted for a 2013 BRIT Award and nominated for the Sound of 2013 Poll, in which they finished in second place. They released their debut album, Body Music in July of 2013. Newly signed to Island Records, Body Music was predominantly written and recorded in 2012 from a DIY bedroom studio, using a towel on the floor for sound proofing.

AlunaGeorge scored their first top-40 entry in 2013 with “White Noise,” a collaboration with UK electronic duo Disclosure, with the song hitting #2 on the UK Singles Chart. Following the release of a remix album in 2014, AlunaGeorge announced that they had signed with Interscope Records in the US in 2015. A trap remix of their UK hit single “You Know You Like It” from DJ Snake appeared on the soundtrack for The Amazing Spider Man, going on to become their first US chart hit, peaking at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. High profile collaborations with Diplo & Skrillex’s DJ duo Jack Ü (“To Ü) and ZHU (“Automatic”) followed in 2015. Their first US single, “I’m In Control,” featuring Jamaican artistPopcaan was released in January 2016, followed by a guest appearance with American rapper Goldlinkon Canadian electronic/hip-hop producer Kaytranada’s debut album 99.9% (“Together”). Following the announcement of their sophomore album, I Remember, AlunaGeorge released a string of singles, including title track “I Remember” (a collaboration with Australian producer Flume) a second collaboration with ZHU (“My Blood”), and “Mean What I Mean” featuring Leikeli47 and Dreezy. In 2016, AlunaGeorge toured North America with the likes of Miguel and Sia and joined Coldplay on their 2017 A Head Full of Dreams Tour in Europe.
