Tijuana-based psych duo Mint Field have shared a new video for “Cambios del Pasar,” a standout track from debut LP Pasar De Las Luces, out now on Innovative Leisure. The Line of Best Fit premiered today’s visual alongside a guide to the Mint Field’s home city. Read the full feature here.
Speaking about the video, director Laura-Lynn Petrick said: “‘Cambios del Pasar’ is meant to be a collection of moving paintings, exploring the notion of change and nature as its canvas. Estrella and Amor connect with their natural environment, at times with ease, at times chaotic. The video was shot in the state of Morelos, in Lagunas de Zempoala and near Cuernavaca, with super 8 film, using only natural light.”
Mint Field are fresh from their U.S. tour, including an impressive cluster of showcases at SXSW. They’ll play Mexico City later this month with Franz Ferdinand. Tickets and information are available here.
Mint Field is 21-year-olds Estrella Sanchez and Amor Amezcua, who together create a sound at once organic, spacious, and inhabited by specters that lurk behind rhythms. With only an EP, the duo attracted international attention and secured plays at Coachella, SXSW and venues throughout the U.S. and Mexico. The full-length that followed shows a band committed to channeling their inspirations and influences to transmit sentiments of profound sorrow, nostalgia and beauty, revisiting sounds from the past to make them contemporary. Pasar De Las Luces’ 13 immaculate tracks nod to everything from dream pop to krautrock to heavy stoner jams to fuzz-saturated shoegaze.
