Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Trade My Trips“?
It’s a song that Boots wrote lyrically when we first started touring a few years ago and has evolved over the years along with all of our lives.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
It’s a song that is dedicated to our families who support our dream as well as fans and friends who are perfect for us and keep us going.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Working on that. We’d like to make a video for each of the 5 or 6 songs on the EP that we’ll be releasing in the summer. Tentatively.
How was the recording and writing process?
We take our time writing songs, so it’s a different time frame for each tune, sometimes it happens in a single practice/writing session and sometimes we’ll ponder a song and tinker for months. These days we record with a friend of ours here locally, the legend himself Matthew J. Huber, producer extraordinaire.
What is it about the 80s that you find so fascinating?
We are influenced by a lot of pop that we grew up listening to and that has been shaping our musical styles all our lives. I think you’ll hear something from each of the past few decades on our new songs. We’re not really writing for any certain genre, just want to compliment each song and each idea the best way possible no matter what or who it might sound like. Just wanna write the best songs we can.
Does the new single mean we can expect any new material – how’s that coming along?
We have a few new tunes in the pipeline, trying to get them out as quickly as possible. Excited to share this new stuff.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Now where’s the suspense in that?? Haha, Beach Boy EP, June 29th. Tentatively.
Any plans to hit the road?
Don’t tell our wives but we plan on touring pretty hard this year, keep a lookout for dates at knoxhamilton.com
