Gabriel Garzón-Montano shares “Crawl” remix by Audra The Rapper

Today Gabriel Garzón-Montano shares the newest remix off his critically acclaimed debut album Jardín. Listen to Audra The Rapper’s version of “Crawl” here:

Audra, the DC-based MC, commented about the collaboration saying, “Teaming up with Gabriel Garzón-Montano to remix Crawl was a no-brainer. He’s a musician’s musician. I remember obsessing over the fact that he madeJardín in analog and watching the in-studio footage of him playing all the instruments and recording on tape on YouTube. ‘Crawl’ was already a feel good track, glad I could add my little two step over it.”

Since last fall, Gabriel has been partnering with female rappers to remix the instrumental versions of his tracks on Jardín. Junglepussy put her spin on“The Game” and Little Simz reworked “Bombo Fabrika.” Gabriel gives his thoughts behind the project:

“Firstly I’d like to thank these ladies for blessing us with their work. I’m so lucky to be able to make beautiful funky music, and to share it with Little Simz, Junglepussy, Audra the Rapper (and a few more soon to come) has been a dream. I’m so proud of these collaborations and honored these ladies lent their gifts to help me present the music in a new way.

Six months ago I got excited about the idea of women rapping over my instrumentals knowing they would complement one another beautifully. Women are magic and beauty personified. I love their voices. All my favorite male singers find their strengths in the so called feminine qualities of the voice.

In my opinion, most women rap about realer and cooler shit than most men. It’s what I want to hear. Some of the men I hear rapping sound like children throwing tantrums, bragging about toys, or projecting low self-esteem. (Shout out all the men who dig deeper and do the work – we love you dearly.)

Next month Gabriel will play a run of sold-out dates with Tom Misch before heading to Europe to play Primavera. All tour dates below.
